Visitors to Battambang on the Occasion of Lunar New Year Increased by More Than 200%

BATTAMBANG: The director of the Battambang Provincial Department of Tourism said that during the four days of the Chinese-Vietnamese New Year, Battambang province attracted 218,420 tourists, an increase of 203.77% compared to the same period in 2021 (71,904 people).

The Director of the Battambang Provincial Department of Tourism, Uch Ou Phinisara, said that out of the 218,420 tourists, 217,959 were national tourists and 461 were international tourists.

He said the factors that led to this year's increase in tourists from peace, infrastructure to resorts and tourist destinations were from the result of the preparation of new products at major tourist destinations, favorable weather conditions and relief from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cambodia fully reopened the country on 1 November 2021, after successfully vaccinating nearly 100% of the target population. According to Prime Minister Hun Sen, since the reopening of the country until now, more than 3 million domestic tourists have travelled in Cambodia.
